At 10 years old David used to sing his mother’s favourite Sinatra song ‘Strangers in the night’. Little did he realise that one day he’d be performing it on stage as an adult. After a short spell playing bass/rhythm guitar in a covers rock band in his early twenties, David took a natural break from performing, concentrating on family life and bringing up his two boys. One son has followed in his father’s musical footsteps, now playing in a band himself.
David’s love of Jazz Swing and Rat Pack re-emerged through ballroom dancing and he began to organise, host and provide the vocals at dances. Gradually through word of mouth David began performing at a wide variety of functions including weddings, balls and celebratory dinners. More recently David also performs with the fantastic ‘New Lights (Jazz Swing) Big Band’. David performs with the band at some of their major gigs around the North West.
Influenced by the Big Band and Rat Pack sound and talented stars such as Frank Sinatra, Matt Monro, Bobby Darin and more recently Robbie Williams and Michael Buble, David performs in his own swinging style. He prefers not to imitate or sound alike; he likes to perform as himself to bring his own sound to these wonderful standard swing songs.
